Our Diary

The year is coming to a close, and like most, we’re wrapping up the year and planning for 2018!

Reflecting on such a fantastic year really has us looking forward to making next year bigger and even more spectacular! Here are some of our favorite moments:

Kicking off 2017 with a bang at last year’s NYE wedding at one of our favorite venues – Palm Event Center – complete with a midnight balloon drop!

When one of our grooms jumped on stage and started playing the drums with the band at his own wedding (this was totally unplanned, and surprised everyone!).

– When our client’s Ana & Kevin got married and included their two adorable sons in their wedding day in so many ways:

-Designing and producing a sales conference event that took place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio (including a celebrity guest appearance by Mark McGrath joining the incredible Simply Irresistible Band!)

– Having the wedding with our largest guest count to date, go off without a hitch!

– When the wedding was stunning, the guests (and bride & groom!) danced ALL night and we got the best text ever the day after: “I can’t imagine going through another life event without Amazae by my side!”

– We already were in LOVE with the entire Filice family, but when the mother of the bride gifted a cake topper and hand written note on the bride’s wedding day from her late Grandmother, we couldn’t contain our emotions… definitely one of the most touching and special elements of any wedding we have ever been a part of.

– Being a part of a close friend & vendor’s wedding:

In our eyes, there is no special formula that can be recreated for each event or wedding.

We’re always looking for unique ways to create a statement-even if it’s understated. We know that it’s important for guests to not only have big “wow” moments, but we also recognize how equally important it is for your guests to experience little special details that they’ll always remember when they think of your event.

We’re nearing the end of the year and we love reflecting on some of our favorites, and here’s a few that made the top of our list:

1. Wow-Worthy Backdrops

One thing is true about weddings and events in the modern world: the word  Instagram-worthy is a thing. Even if you’re not a big social media maven, a great backdrop will always be important and memorable. We love creating really unique backdrops that enhance ceremonies, and can then be repurposed later in the evening.

2. Cohesive Color

Well designed events seem to always stand out, and when you’re using color or patterns, we take great care in ensuring that all the elements complement each other while still showing off your favorite statements, like bright striped linens!

3. Magical Pathways

We often must move guests from one location to another during an event or a wedding. We love taking this opportunity to add an extra layer of interest to the guest experience. Sometimes it’s simply lighting the pathway, but it can really be so much more, including having a live musician interact with your guests and lead the way to the next space.

4. Unique Guest Book

While a traditional guest book is still lovely, we really try to take basic elements, like guest books, and turn them into a fun memory for the couple and a small delight for the guests. It’s especially great to customize  an element of the couple’s lifestyle that doubles as a design element-for example, these gorgeous custom wine bottle boxes!

5. ‘I DO’ with a View

Sometimes the best way to really impress your guests is to let nature showcase itself. We live in a beautiful place and even when we travel for destination events, we LOVE to first explore what’s already stunning about a location. Whether you’ve got a rooftop with a stunning view, a vineyard surrounded by rolling hills or of course, one of our favorites – a spectacular view of the Golden Gate Bridge – showcasing the existing beauty into your event is a total win.

My hands down favorite thing about fall weddings are the COLORS. While the soft and romantic neutral weddings are always stunning, I just love the variety of fun and bold colors that come with the fall palettes! Check out some of my favorite ways to incorporate autumn colors and fresh fall vibes into your wedding!

One of the first places we start when designing a wedding is the bride’s bouquet and I am not going to lie – when the bride says she wants a little color incorporated into her bouquet, my heart does a happy dance!

This bouquet screams fall romance to me. The deep burgundy roses & peonies (my all time favorite flower that makes its second appearance for the year in fall) with the contrasting almost black calla lilies with just the subtle touch of orange – I just can’t get enough. This bouquet was wrapped with gold ribbon, adding a bit of elegance and glam while still remaining organic and fall like, with the lower portion of stems exposed.

A great way to bring fall to life at your wedding is to incorporate a fresh seasonal signature drink. Adding some fresh cranberries or a splash of apple cider to a Moscow Mule transforms this traditionally summer cocktail into a fall refreshment your guests will surely love!

Don’t limit your florals to JUST florals! Playing with other fall elements like kumquats, thistles and berries will really bring your centerpieces to life with vibrant fall colors.

While the sun is out, fall is usually perfect weather for your outdoor wedding. However the evening temps tend to drop making it a bit chilly. Favors like these custom pashminas will keep your guests warm and comfortable while celebrating into the night.

A trend that has been around for awhile now (that we are totally ok with!) is wood farm tables. We love the natural element they bring, especially for fall al fresco dining, however since the use of farm tables means no statement linens – we are left to find more ways to bring in color.

These Dupionique chair pads in Rust from La Tavola were the perfect way to bring in a pop of fall color to this stunning table scape.
